The Northeast Home of Rebel Class One Design Racing

The Rebel has the distinction of being the first fiberglass production boat in the U.S.. Hull Number 1 was pulled from the mold in 1947, by Ray Greene, in Toledo, Ohio. Hull Number 3 was restored in the early 2000's and is still raced by Bruce Nowak and many regional and national regattas.

Fleet 21 began when a group of young AYS members began racing Rebels, on Greenwood Lake, in 1961. A few of those original Mark I Rebels are still around. George Vurno owns Hull Number 1592, that he and his son Steve campaigned, to win the National Championship in 1991. Binnie Norton owns "the black boat" Number 1593, which Jack and Jason Roe used to secure a solid last place, in the 2007 Nationals, the first Rebel National Championship Regatta held on Greenwood Lake.
